X-10 Week 1: Celebrating (Really!) Small Successes…

I’m gearing up for another weekend of Integrative Yoga Therapy teacher training, which means I’ve done a lot of homework over the last few days. This came at the perfect timing because it reminded me that in yoga, there is no judgement. Instead, you observe a behavior, see if there is something to learn from it, and move on.

In this spirit, I choose to say YAH!! I lost .2 pounds this week. Yes, it was only .2 pounds on this first week of my X-10 Weight Loss Challenge – i.e. the week it’s supposed to be easiest. But the scale went down for the first time in about 6 weeks, so that’s a good sign. And this gives me lots of room to improve this next week.

My mini-goals were to drink eight classes of water and eat more than six servings of fruit and vegetables each day. I did really good on the water. I think it’s a bit easier this time of year when I feel like my whole system runs dry. I was really surprised by my fruit and veggie intake. I only had six servings one day! This is further proof that documenting your food can be very beneficial. I thought I was doing good on this (chocolate, carrots, chocolate, apple, chocolate…), but I am much too reliant on carbs as filler. The menu for this week will be much more deliberate.

This week I shall continue to focus on water and fruits and vegetables and add in a physical challenge. I’m upping my exercise schedule for the week, including two new cardio classes. As I mentioned, I have my teacher training this weekend which means a couple great yoga sessions, too.

Hopefully this means I can lose the 1.8 pounds necessary to get back on track. Stay tuned!

How are you challenging yourself this week?
