A week has past since the inaugural (I hope!) Indie Wed Milwaukee show. I think it was a hit. The best way to describe it was that Etsy Weddings came to life and all couples were channeling their inner-Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. In short – my heaven.
I didn’t get much of a chance to walk around the show, but I did pick up a few great ideas worth sharing.
Food Trucks
My booth was right next to the Fast Foodie, who was giving out samples of their chips and globaco fillings. Besides being wonderfully tasty, a food truck provides a unique way to feed your crowd, be it for the meal or for late night snacks. And it doesn’t hurt that it will probably be more cost-effective than a traditional caterer. That said, be sure to check with your reception venue to make sure they’d allow another provider to come on-site.

Photo Scenes
Photo booths are all the rage and for good reason. Pair an open bar and the general high felt at a wedding reception and folks feel very goofy and willing to be photographed. These booths make for great souvenirs both for folks to take home immediately and for you as the host to keep.
But instead of a traditional booth, consider setting up a scene. It could be a cannon with oars, a fishing pole and fake fish or a cafe table with a child-sized tea set. Perhaps a motorcyle or bookshelf filled with historic novels would be more your style. Adding props is a great way to show your personality as a couple, but also gives your guests a chance to be creative.
Custom Wedding Dresses
Your wedding gown will probably be your biggest clothing purchase during your lifetime, so why not have something made just for you? I loved the designs shown by Monirose – Bespoke Designs. They were so dainty and feminine. If fashion-forward is more your style, you could not go wrong with Delanie Couture.
