One of my favorite things about fall is college football. No, not football in general, but college football. I am a proud Gamecock surrounded by a sea of Badgers, so Saturdays in September are commonly spent watching College GameDay. I know folks who bleed school colors and use them to decorate their homes, paint their cars, and even theme their weddings. It’s sometimes hard to do an event as formal as a wedding in school colors, but here are a few ideas to see how to make it work.
A navy invitation with just a touch of gold would be perfect for Marquette alum planning a fall wedding. I love this one from Ginger P Designs.
The last three weeks of football season were the worst back when I was in college. I called it the Orange Crush. We played Tennessee, Florida and Clemson all in a row. Given that we only won one game my first two years (and that these three teams were fantastic at the time!), these were ugly, ugly games. That said…this bouquet would be a beautiful touch to a Gator wedding.
This dress would be great on a Badger bridesmaid! It would be perfect for jumping around the dance floor.
A Spartan bride looking to buck tradition would look fabulous in this elegantly beaded, emerald gown.
Gosh, you don’t get more perfect than this purse for a LSU Tiger bride! The mask would be a very sophisticated addition to a photo booth, too!
In another life, I was a University of Texas Longhorn. I love the campus! I love the baseball team! I love all things Austin and Texas! (Looks like I also love exclamation points!) So this burnt orange tie would look perfect on the groom of my former life. (P.S. Yes, this color is TOTALLY different than the orange above. If you don’t believe me, ask an alum from one of these colleges…)
Bright, lemon yellow can be tricky to work with…and get overwhelming real fast. Use it as an accent color for a black and white themed event for a sophisticated look. Perhaps a look I could use to celebrate my MBA? I am a Pope, a Gamecock, and I am UWM.
Here’s a wedding cake perfect for my fellow alum from the REAL USC. Let’s go Gamecocks!
Would you incorporate your school colors into your event theme? If so, how?
