Last year I PRed (“personal record” for the uninitiated) at the 2012 Run to Irish Fest for the Arthritis Foundation and in honor of mom. I finished around 32:40, but more importantly had 10 people join me that morning and raised $660 for research. It was a great morning all-around and I can’t wait to make it even bigger this year.
I’m not sure if it really registered with mom that I did this run for her last year. She was kind of in a fog last August. Maybe she knew something was up with her own health (and didn’t tell me, grr…), but she kept on forgetting I did this event for her.
This year, I know she’s up there watching my every move and making sure I do things bigger and badder in 2013. So that’s where you come in.
I have a goal of 15 team members and $750 in donations for this run/walk taking place on Saturday, August 17. Yep, it’s a run AND a walk. So if you have the ability to put one foot in front of the other, no matter how fast or how slow, we’ve got a place for you. Last year, we even had one kid run on our team. (Who kicked my butt in time, naturally…)
If you rather not get run when the weather is so warm, I’d love a cheering section either live or from afar. Donations of money, post-run chocolate bars, or “you got this, champ”s are always appreciated.
To join the team or donate money, please follow these prompts.
Many thanks in advance from me AND my mom. She was always too proud to complain about her arthritic symptoms, but she certainly did suffer. Let’s make sure that wasn’t for nothing.
