We are back from a wonderful vacation to the Pacific northwest! Nine days of getting to know Randy’s friends, hiking ’til the hinders hurt, eating ’til I couldn’t eat no more, and just enjoying each other’s company.
One of the things I like best about vacations is being able to step away from all the day-to-day and reflect on where things are in life. Yep, you know I think life is overall pretty good right now, but I continue to struggle with a career. I’ve bored you past tense, present, and future on the specifics, so I won’t do that again. Frankly, I’m embarrassed that I don’t have a 9-to-5 to report to sometimes. Once I make enough money to come close to my old salary that part will go away, but for now, I feel sheepish.

THANK YOU ELSIE and EMMA! These days you can’t shake a glitter-dipped, prosciutto-wrapped stick on Pinterest without finding a craft project, recipe, or pretty picture from their blog. They are famous in their little corner of the world, but as they report, their six-year journey (not even including the careers and things that came before!) included vintage shops, cupcake bakeries, and other semi-related, but really not things. This was just the reminder I needed that everything I’m doing these days is getting me closer to contentment. That contentment may or may not look like any of the projects currently on my desk, but I’m learning from each one.
On that note, I invite you to read their post (and this one for background) and remind yourself that where ever you are on your journey today you’re lucky to be there. We’ve got to get there sooner or later, right?!
