So I have a million things I’ve wanted to blog about, but haven’t really felt it appropriate until I tell you something else… I’m getting married! Yes, I can finally go from being a day-dreamer to actually putting things in action. I will try my best not to focus this blog on wedding planning, but hi…have you met me?
Let me share the “how”, since I’m sure you’re curious (if you’re anything like everyone else I’ve talked to in the past 2 weeks… And no, we don’t know when the wedding will be yet.) When Randy and I decided to move in together, we figured our best option was to have him move to my house and he could rent his side of the duplex. This discussion took place in March. Finally, about three weeks ago, he started getting serious about moving in boxes. As things came in, I took a look at them to see if we needed the items. If so, I unpacked. If not, they went to the garage with the rest of the stuff we were giving away. (P.S. Don’t give to St. Vincent de Paul in the Milwaukee area. They are rude, unappreciative, and mostly… they didn’t take the stupid couches. That’s the whole reason we had them come to us!!) One of the things that made it to the garage was a box of glasses. This was around a Tuesday.
Saturday was the big moving day. After we moved the furniture in, Randy went to his duplex to clean up and I went to a friend’s wedding shower. Needless to say, once we were back together, we were both pretty beat. Still, I noticed the box of glasses had made it back inside. The conversation went something like this:
R: “Maggie, will you take another look in the box?”
M: “No. I already did. There’s nothing there.”
R: “Just humor me and look in the box.”
M: “Fine…”
Finally, like an hour later, I stomped into the kitchen and grumpily looked in the box. There on top, was a ring box. I turned around to ask Randy what that was all about, and he was on one knee. And the rest is history! Or should I say future… I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with this man. (CHEESE!) And let’s be honest…I can’t wait to plan this wedding! The best party of 2011 will start right here.
The ring is pretty darn fantastic, which is even more impressive since Randy said he didn’t pick up on any of my hints. He had the ring made at a local place called Magpie Jewelry here in Wauwatosa.
