Emotional Highlights of 2013

If you’re on your computer, iPad, or other electronic device today it means you are either at work (I’m sorry!) or are already over the excitement of your Christmas presents. (More socks. Thanks.) Either way, you’re probably looking to kill time and there are only so many videos of Corgi puppies a person can watch before their brain turns to mush.

Instead, here are a few of the most popular and most emotional posts I put up in 2013. With the loss of mom and the addition of Eggroll, I’ve been a hormonal and emotional mess this year. Writing is one of the best outlets for me, so you get the benefit of this roller coaster I call life.

FAQ About The Eggroll

Baby_Card_Steel_Petal_Press

Let’s go back to the beginning and learn some basics about this baby, how I’m approaching motherhood and my promise to not talk about baby poop on the blog. (Related – “baby poop” still only brings up three posts. So far so good!)

The House That Built Me

House where Maggie grew upHappenstance brought me back to the Park Manor house. Good people let me tour this house where I lived from ages 11 to 24. It was interesting to see what had (or hadn’t) changed. And what silly things struck a chord.

My First Letter to Eggroll

My_hope_for_my_babyI wrote this post right before we had our ultrasound appointment that told us we were having a little girl. I shared my wishes for the baby – that she travels, follows her dreams, and never, ever wants a cat.

Anatomy of An Anxiety Attack

dad_at_Sturgis

The Harley-Davidson 110th Anniversary made a lot of noise in Milwaukee and in my gut. This post chronicles the stages of an anxiety attack as I think about dad, motorcycles, and his accident.

My Letter to Josie

1990s bangs

Being 12 years old is hard, hard work. Per a Facebook request, I wrote this post to Josie and all 12-year-olds everywhere to remind them it does get better than the bullying, acne, and angst of the pre-teen years.

Do you like reading these kinds of posts or am I sharing too much? Be honest. I’ve got notebooks to fill if you rather not hear this nonsense.
