Things I Learned On Christmas Vacation

It didn’t hit me until last night, but I’ve pretty much been on vacation for two weeks. That was fun.

Here are some things I’ve learned with all of my free time:

  • Two weeks of vacation with no naps is still vacation.
  • A girl could get used to a hot breakfast everyday.
  • If you will all of your old Christmas stuff to appear in your mom’s garage, it will.
  • Don’t look at the pictures on other people’s cameras. It might really gross you out.
  • Margaritas are a new Christmas Eve tradition.
  • Flying late on Christmas Eve is kind of brilliant.
  • Working out is so much easier when it’s the only thing I have to do that day.
  • My lawyer is younger than me. I’m old enough that this gives me pause. On the other hand, she and her husband make for great dinner dates. (And she’s a fabulous lawyer.)
  • I’m ushering in 2013 as a true grow up. I’ve had meetings with lawyers, financial planners and real estate agents in the past two weeks. Not only did I stay in on New Years, but my Facebook feed was filled with other folks doing the same. On the other hand, I have not carried a proper purse since December 17.
  • A burger with sautéed apples, fried onions, bacon, and cheddar cheese is just as good as it sounds.
  • My favorite meal of 2012 is cheese, sausage and baguettes, sitting on the floor in my basement.
  • Living in Shorewood is going to fun, but living close to a Sendik’s will be dangerous.
  • Driving around looking at houses with Randy is pretty cool.
  • If you don’t do laundry for three weeks, you’ll end up washing every piece of clothing you own.
  • I’d be a great stay-at-home wife with nothing to do but read books all day. I may or may not cook dinner every now and then, but that would be the extent of my daily chores.

In reality, I’m way excited to see tomorrow. Randy starts his new job. I jump back into work and see which of my many jobs becomes a career. I’ll get back into my yoga teacher training and cooking dinner. 2013 is going to be great!
